I’m Madhav Saxena, I make websites and am based in New Orleans, LA. I was born in Allahabad, India, lived in Hong Kong for a few years, moved to New Orleans, went to college in Jackson, MS, lived in Houston for a while, then returned to New Orleans. I’ve been designing/developing/securing/fixing websites full-time since 2011.

The first site I did professionally was The Munch Factory Restaurant and they put me on the path I’m on now – a freelance/independent website builder trying to make it big in a cold cruel world.

I attended kindergarten at Seven Oaks Academy in Kenner, LA and high school at Ben Franklin High School in New Orleans. Both places helped mold me into who I am today.

I’m into the NFL/New Orleans Saints. I visit profootballtalk around 4-5x a day on average so I keep up with happenings around the league. My favorite Saints players are Keenan Lewis and Delvin Breaux. First Saints game I ever attended was vs Washington Redskins in fall of 1992. I had a Saints fan guidebook from the ’93 season that I damn near memorized and I haven’t looked back since. I was in Houston for the Super Bowl in 2010, my major fear in life is that the Saints won’t win it again until I move back. People think I’m not “hardcore” because I don’t get as angry/sad/disappointed as others do when unfortunate things happen to the Saints, but it’s mostly because I’ve been doing this for 25 years now. I have a Jim Everett jersey.

I’ve been using various Debian/Ubuntu type Linux distributions since 2007 and I switched to Linux full-time in 2013. Started with Linux Mint (whatever the Ubuntu 6.10 version was) and now I run Ubuntu minimal with Openbox. I have one desktop that has Elementary OS and honestly, I have a hard time using anything non-Openbox. I love almost all KDE apps I’ve ever used, so one day when I get a modern computer, I look forward to trying to go all in with KDE Neon or Arch with KDE. My computers are set up to get out of my way and do things the way I want to do them, and that’s just something I can’t do with Windows or OSX.

I enjoy watching Hindi movies as the mix of fantasy and nowadays reality appeals to me. My favorite movies are Yes Boss, Sarfarosh, 99, and I’m sure I’m forgetting many. Hindi film songs are faves as well, but they’re getting dumber and dumber as the years go by. Probably be highlighting some good movies that aren’t on Netflix on this blog (Netflix selection isn’t great).

I began listening to hip-hop seriously in 1998 and continue to listen to this day (though it’s not my primary interest as it once was). Raw emotion and grittiness attracted me, as did the way the words go together and stories are told, and musically, the way everything (and I mean everything) influences production. My favorite rapper is Nas and my favorite albums would be Illmatic, Stillmatic, God’s Son, Kurupt’s Tha Streetz iz a Mutha, and a few more I’ll remember soon and add here.

All of the above are topics I’ll probably be talking about on this blog, and I hope to engage readers who share these interests.
