Bachelor Meal of the Day

I was at some random Men's Health-type site a few weeks ago and I read an article with healthier recipes for a number of comfort foods, one of them being macaroni and cheese. This recipe called for the addition of some spices and some grilled chicken. I did not follow this recipe.

Left alone for dinner tonight, I decided to do some sort of macaroni and cheese with chicken dish, but the end result was not like the healthy-recipe at all.

Macaroni and Cheese with Chicken Ingredients: 1/2 a block of cheddar cheese 1 "normal" boneless/skinless chicken breast (diced) 3 or 4 tbsp. olive oil 3 or 4 tbsp. sriracha sauce 1/2 cup milk 1 cup macaroni 1 glass of Famous Grouse Scotch Whiskey (to drink while cooking)

First, I heated the olive oil in a wok, let it heat, added the cheese, and watched it melt. Yes, it looked absolutely disgusting. When about half the cheese had melted, I put in the sriracha sauce. When the concoction began bubbling/splattering, I threw in the diced chicken, and stir fried until the chicken was done. At that point, I put the wok on lo-flame, covered it, and boiled the macaroni. When the macaroni was done, I drained it, threw it in the wok, and mixed the whole thing together. The result:

Quick takes on other stuff: Coroner identifies man killed during quadruple shooting at Treme club Two things: 1a.) I guess that means I'm never going to the Domino Effect Lounge ever again. 1b.) I'm definitely never working there. 2.) I'm taking a sabbatical from commenting/talking about New Orleans crime for a while. I've nothing to say. When it gets to the point when you're totally numb to about 50% of the police incident reports and the other 50% just make you laugh, well...I don't know what to say.

Crawfish season is off to a slow start, but lots of mudbugs and low prices are expected Thank goodness. I went to Kjean to pick some up last week, and for some reason, they had none. So I did the next best thing and decided to adventure. I decided to go to Zimmer's Seafood since I grew up near there and I hadn't checked them out post-K, but halfway there, I passed a place called Broadview Seafood. I u-turned and went in and bought some crawfish, went home, and they tasted ok, but these things were tiny. I can't remember ever having such small bugs before. So here's to hoping the summer brings things back to normal.

That's all till next time. I'm sure I'll have something crime-related to say, because I am not good at sabbaticals.
